Travel arrangements

Because we don’t insist that you book a Saturday to Saturday holiday, you can benefit from the cheaper Sunday and mid-week flights and avoid the Saturday traffic jams.  In addition you can enjoy the quieter slopes on the popular changeover day of Saturday. Included in your holiday is a courtesy transfer service to and from Chambery airport.

Flights
There are now various low cost airlines that fly from numerous UK airports to Chambery on a Sunday and these include:

• Jet 2 - Leeds/Bradford. Manchester, Edingburgh - FLIGHTS NOW OUT FOR 09/10
• Flybe - Southampton, Birmingham
• Snowjet and Satellite Travel - Gatwick

There are also flights into Lyon and Geneva airports at which car hire is readily available.  We are 2 hours 45 minutes from Geneva and Lyon and 1 hour 45 minutes from Chambery.

Car Hire
There are plenty of car hire companies and as with flights the sooner you book the better the price.

The French authorities require that snow chains be carried during the winter season so please check before leaving the airport that the car hire company has supplied these.

Transfers
Transfer from Chambery airport is included in the price however taxi transfers can be arranged at an approximate cost of £60 return per person (subject to a minimum number of people).  There are also regular bus and train services from all airports (www.altibus.com).  For the fastest transfer time helicopter trips are also available with SAF (0033 479 41 93 49).

Driving
Travel by car from Calais to the chalet takes approximately 10 -12 hours.  See the website www.mappy.com for directions.  As above, snow chains are required during the winter season.
