Travel arrangements

Because we don't insist that you book a Saturday to Saturday holiday, you can benefit from the cheaper Sunday and mid-week flights and avoid the Saturday traffic jams. In addition, you can enjoy the quieter slopes on the popular changeover day of Saturday.

There are various low cost airlines that fly from a number of UK airports to Chambery and these include:

  • Jet 2 - Leeds/Bradford, Manchester, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Newcastle
  • Flybe - Southampton, Birmingham, Exeter
  • Snowjet - Bristol, Gatwick, Stansted
  • British Airways - London City

There are also flights into Lyon and Geneva airports at which car hire is readily available. We are 2.5 hours from Geneva, 3 hours Lyon and 1 hour 45 minutes from Chambery.

Airport transfers to the chalet can be arranged through our travel partner Winter Bus with prices starting from as little as £40 per person ( There are also regular bus and train services from all airports ( and For the fastest (and most expensive!) transfer, helicopter trips are also available with SAF (0033 479 41 93 49).

Car Hire

There are plenty of car hire companies and as with flights the sooner you book the better the price. There is plenty of parking at the chalet and at nearby car parks.

The French authorities require that snow chains be carried during the winter season so please check before leaving the airport that the car hire company has supplied these.

Travel by car from Calais to the chalet takes approximately 10 -12 hours. See the website for directions. If using sat nav then make sure your route goes via Albertville to avoid being directed through Italy and over the the Petite St Bernard pass which is closed in the winter. As above, snow chains are compulsory during the winter season.
